    Hi,

recently I opened my iBook G4 1.33 12″ because I wanted replace the HD.

Everything’s fine except the audio from the speakers.

Accidentally when I plugged the speaker’s cable to the audio connector in the logic board I bent the pins of the connector and I think that it caused a short circuit and now I don’t have anymore audio in the speakers.

I tested the speakers and they work great.
I tested the speaker cable and it works great.

How can I fix the problem?

    Please help.

    Andrea

    Hi
It’s Pin 28 on the chip.. if you’re looking at the chip, there is a little dot on it to show where pin 1 is.. it’s on the other side of the dot.. if you scrape a bit of the green covering on the logic board with a small screwdriver, you can re-flow that one pin..no shim required

    The graphics chip …
The graphics chip loses contact with the logic board. This is one of the possible (and least destructive) repair methods. Other methods involve fire!

I’m a service man…but far away from you, so no money interrests in this. I just say what’s right:

With this repair the iBook’ll work fine for a few time. BUT! After using for months the problem’ll come again. The solder’ll crash under pressure and ibook’s mainboard can damage.

In my service I resolder and the power cable change(the cable causes the problem, it’s on the chip and if you press the iBook’s bottom, the power cable makes pressure on the chip and the solder’ll crash a bit)

    I used those …
I used those silicon/rubber feet they sell to stick under lamps and so and not scratch wood furniture, worked like a charm!

it’s a temporary fix though, eventually the case will bend and the shim will be rendered ineffective again.

Still, it helps during some time, and your iBook will revive. if you don’t move it too much it may last several months at least…
