Leopard Spotlight Running Slow on My iBook G4
August 29th, 2009 | by admin |
This was a video I did to showcase just how slow Leopard made my Spotlight run on my iBook G4. Tiger is fast and snappy, but with Leopard, I can type into Spotlight and actually watch my text take *seconds* to catch up. Just one way that Leopard wasn’t a good upgrade for me on my iBook G4. Other systems it’s great, but iBook? Nope, downgraded to Tiger.

Spotlight does not …
Spotlight does not behave like this at all in Tiger on the same iBook G4, nor does it behave like this on my MacBook, iMac, or Hack Pro (my Hackintosh).
I only encounter this problem when running Leopard on an iBook G4. Funny that Spotlight didn’t have any such slow down in Tiger, though I know it has been rewritten for Leopard (or reworked).
