How can I tell if my version of Tiger OS X 10.4 is genuine?

November 7th, 2009 | by admin |

I bought the computer online, how do I know if it is a genuine copy? It works fine and it does not make much difference, I am just wodnering if there is a way I can find out?

Apple doesn’t check on the OS as other manufacturers do. The only check Apple does is if the computer is a mac. Now you can’t use the install discs (the gray discs that came with the computer) from an iMac on a macbook but a retail copy of OS X you can put on any mac. Apple will ask you to Register but that is the only verification that they do. It’s not like windows with all the genuine advantage hoops they make you jump through.

i think that apple won’t let you update unless it’s genuine, so try doing an update
