when i upgrade to mac os x snow leopard will i lose all the programs i already have on my mac?

wondering because i have mac os x leopard the newest version and am upgrading in sept to snow leopard and have extra programs i cant download again and dont want to lose!!
please help!!

What everyone is forgetting to mention is the Archive and Install option that will preserve your user settings, preferences and applications. You want to choose that.

Again, as with any upgrade, do back up before installing.

    i would assume that you would not lose your programs. Apple is pretty good at doing that. However, make sure that you back-up your computer before you install Mac OS X Snow Leopard so that you can restore those files.

    I’ve never lost any programs when upgrading, although sometimes an older program might need an update patch from the program’s maker. You should always back up your files in case something happens to your computer.

    No when you upgrade to a new osx nothing gets erased. Everything stays the same

    I just got back from the apple store to ask the same exact thing! They told me no, it is just basically a really cool update for your computer and shouldn’t erase anything! If you want to be extra safe, download all your programs onto a flashdrive. But you won’t loose anything(:
