I think there are no drivers for large flash drives in OS9, they did not exist when it was released. A 512mb flash drive in 2000 was expensive now you can get a GB one for like two dollars.

because there was …
because there was no flash drives when mac os 9 came out, it doesnt know what it is. like cameras designed for 2 gig sd cards, they think 4 gig sd cards only hold 2 gig too. its all in how it was made.
another example is your mac computer, it has 4 ram slots, but even if you put 4 2gig ram cards in to it, it probably cant see more than the original 1 gig max it was designed to use, it would not see the 8 gigs of ram
