    That’s not why it’s Mac OS 8. The black Apple is there because this particular system is running on an emulated machine. Some emulators do that in certain configurations.

    It’s Mac OS 8.0, 8.1 or possibly Mac OS 7 with the appearance manager installed due to the way the rest of the menu bar is drawn. Take a closer look at Mac OS 8.5/8.6 and 9 and you’ll see the difference.
