Moving from Mac OS9 to OSX?
September 17th, 2009 | by admin |I would like to transfer all my files Mac OS9 to OSX Panther. I suppose I can move all documents using a USB Drive but emails are proving to be a bit of a problem. How can I transfer emails from Outlook Express 5 to Entourage X?
What is the quickest, easiest (and cheapest!) way to do this? I’m not very technical so I need a "dummy’s" guide to do so?
I want to keep the original send date for easy sorting so forwarding emails is not really an option. Also, it is my work email so I literally have thousands of emails to move.
I’m trying to move the data to a new Mac.
If you have both systems on the same computer, say you are using an iBook, you don’t have to transfer your files like Word documents etc. You can access them from MacOs X. You’ll just need too know where they are. Emails if they are saved on the server, should show up on MacOsX also. You could just forward all your emails to a different email address which you only open in Entourage X. What’s wrong with the Mail app. in MacOs X ? I’ve used it for many years, no problems configuring, minimal spam and best of all, it’s not a Microsoft product.

I don’t think that Outlook will transfer to entourage, or not easily. You should probably set up a gmail account and forward all of your emails to that, and then forward them back to your old account, I don’t know how many emails you have so that could be hard. If possible, burn data CD’s instead of a USB drive. If Outlook does end up being compatible, burn data CD’s.
