4 now in the list look for world of warcraft or something similar to that then click it
5 ok right to the world of warcraft tab, click remove, (Or whatever it says)

Install Mac OS X Tiger on a G4 PowerPC 10:41?

January 18th, 2010

Hello I wanted to install two cdrom original version Mac OS X Tiger on a G4 PowerPC 10:41 where it has’ Panther 10.3.9 which does not allow me to do anything, I cannot open Flash movies in spite of downloading the flash player .. .
When I put the cdrom in the Mac, the screen that tells me he is ready to install version 10.4.1 or the Tiger and tells me to restart before the installation. When you restart do I see?
top of the screen are several lines of characters and errors various sensa sense that you can not decipher.
Why?
After reboot in order to install Tiger 10.4.1
on the display I see a lot of non sense black frases and words and this error:

panic: we are hanging here….

Not sure what you mean by "two cdrom original version Mac OS X Tiger", since Tiger came as a 4 CD set (only available to those who bought a DVD but didn’t have a DVD drive) or as a DVD. There was no 2 CD set. If these are actually CDs, not DVDs, and you have only "Disc 1" and "Disc 2", you will need to choose "Custom" when you see that button, and remove the checks/tics for printer drivers and Additional Fonts. Those are on Disc 3 and 4.

"G4 PowerPC" is the type of processor, but isn’t a complete description of your computer. It could be an iMac G4, or a PowerMac G4, or a PowerBook G4. Do you see the name of the computer on the actual plastic case of it?

"panic: we are hanging here…" is the old 10.3 version of the error message for a kernel panic. It means the computer cannot load the software for OS X. At the start of loading for the OS X system software, the basic hardware is tested. If anything fails, it goes to that message about panic. That means the error could be related to hardware (bad RAM, bad hard drive, bad processor) or to software (corruption of the file system or of OS X).

Disconnect everything but the power cord if it is a notebook, or disconnect everything but the power cord, mouse, keyboard, and one monitor if it is a desktop system. Restart. If it still has the kernel panic message, remove any added RAM and try again. Sometimes RAM that is slightly off specification can allow the computer to boot to the hard drive, but will fail to boot to the CD.

If this is a PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics, iMac Slot Loading optical drive, iBook, PowerBook with Firewire, or Power Mac Cube (1999) or later, restart holding the opt key until you see the Startup Manager screen. Try the 10.4 CD. It should appear as an icon on the screen. Click on it and press Return.

After removing the incompatible hardware, it should boot to the Tiger CD and allow you to install. Whether or not it will run correctly after adding the offending hardware back into the mix is anybody’s guess.

How come all of Tiger Wood’s mistresses are starting to pop up at the same time?

January 18th, 2010

Most of them are porn stars and waitresses, are they just after a piece of Tiger’s fortune?

Ever heard the saying ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’?

Besides the money, they could have thought they were the only one (besides his wife) and now they are mad.

Mac os9 flashing question mark and face - how can i get past it?!?

January 18th, 2010

I’ve been having to swap between mac osx 10 and 0s9 and a powerbook g4 for a quark to indesign conversion project. I have been doing this via the system preferences - start up disc method.

All was going well.

When i came in this morning to switch the mac on, it’s obviously trying to start in os9, which is the last system we left it on, on shut down last night.

However, it’s not starting up, it’s just flashing a question mark and smiley face icon. I understand this is because it can’t find the os, and we just need to "remind" it of where it is - but we can’t find the disc, and i don’t know if there is a way of getting it to boot up in either osx10 or os9 without it?
Restarting the machine and then as soon as it chimes, holding down the "X" key on my keyboard to boot into osx does not work. It is trying to boot in os9, there is no chime.

There is spinning noise etc coming from the hardware, I’m pretty sure this is not a hardware issue.

You should be able to start your machine up into OS X without too much trouble.
-> Restart the machine and as soon as it chimes, hold down the "X" key on your keyboard. It should boot into OS X.

If you want to try to get it to start into OS 9, you need to find any Bootable System Disc (I think 8.5 and above would work fine). Once you boot from the CD, you should be able to use the Startup Disk Control Panel to select the System Folder on your internal HD and reboot from it. This is called "blessing" the system folder. When you switch between OS X and OS 9, the Startup Disk Control Panel is simply blessing one System folder and then another.

If you don’t hear your drive spinning up at boot time, or it is making strange noises (whirr - clunk, whirr - clunk) then you may be looking at a hardware failure. :-(

How much fast will changing the memory chip in an ibook g4 make the computer?

January 18th, 2010

My ibook g4 is mad slow and I am planning on changing the memory card out on it. But, the memory card is only 1gb so i cant se how it will make it any faster. Please tell what i need to do. Essentially I would like to clear all the programs off of it and completely clear out the memory. Please help. :)
Won’t make it any faster. That G4 is very old and completely obsolete. You should seriously consider just replacing it with a new computer.

How can i install mac os x onto my computer as a duel boot?

January 18th, 2010

i would like to use mac software on my awesome pc hardware. is there a place to get a mac os x?

You cannot install Mac OS X on any non-Apple hardware. Doing so would not only be a crime, but it will also not work; you would be spending more time pulling out your hair trying to make it work, and you’d certainly get no support from Apple.

If you want to use Mac OS X, you need to buy a Mac; it’s that simple.

Is it possible to run OSX on an aced aspire 5532? Any help would be greatly appreciated!?

January 18th, 2010

Yeah, I may be getting an aver aspire 5532 lap-top or christmas, and I would like to know, is it possible to run mac OSX on it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

im gonna say no. Any laptops other then the macbooks and stuff should only run Windows Based OS’. You can never be sure if everything will run the same. not to mention that OS is not what the laptop was designed for.
