What is EVERYTHING you need to properly take care of a leopard gecko/panther gecko?

January 1st, 2010 | by admin |

I might get a leopard/panther gekco soon but I do not now how to take care of them so please help.

Here’s a list:

10-20 gal. tank.
Substrate (Repti-carpet, paper towels, etc.)
Food Dish (Curved edge so the food can’t get away.)
Water dish (No ceramic dishes, only plastic.)
Hideaway
Fake Plant (optional)
Heat Lamp
Night and Day Bulb
Heat Pad
Food (Mealworms, Waxworms, Kingworms, etc.)
Water (Non-chlorinated)
Calcium/Multivitamin supplement.

Be prepared as this can cost anywhere from $200-$250. I hope this helps.

Everything above is correct- but you can do it a lot cheaper than stated. A choice would be to look on craigslist- you can usually get a good tank pretty cheap. Here is a price breakdown of what I paid to get my two set up-
    20 L tank- $30.00 Petsmart
    Lid- $10.00 Petco.com
Tile (great substrate)- $3.00 Lowes- they’ll even cut it for you for free
    Water/calcium bowls- $10.00 for both at Petco.com
    Calcium- $8.00 Petco.com
    Lamp- $6.00 at Walmart/Home Depot
    Normal Light bulb- $3.00 Walgreens
    Blacklight- $4.00 Walgreens
Crickets are pretty cheap- .10$ a cricket. I feed crickets with an occasional waxworm- have had both of my leo’s for about 5 years now and both dong great.

Also- http://www.petmountain.com has GREAT prices, or http://www.lnt.com I’d suggest ordering a lot offline and get it at half the price.
