Is the powerbook g4 laptop still a good laptop to get used from ebay?
December 6th, 2009 | by admin |I have a PC laptop. I want a new laptop for Christmas. I was going to buy a new dell inspiron 15 with windows 7. But I though I could buy an apple powerbook g4 12 in. or 15 in. with leopard installed on ebay for like 200-300 dollars. Which one should I get the new dell inspiron 15 with windows 7 or the apple powerbook g4 laptop?

Macs are only good with Music Management and Video Management such as creating, editing, etc…
Technically, Windows can do the exact same thing. Get iTunes and Audicity for Music Management and Sony Vegas + Keygen for Video Management.
Windows laptops can do more than Macs since they are much more compatible than Macs. Yes, Windows have more viruses that can get exposed to Windows but nothing but a simple download and registration of a free anti-virus software such as avast! can do the trick.
So, if I were you, I would get the Dell Inspiron.
P.S.: In my opinion, don’t use eBay. As trustworthy as it can be, cheap things are cheap for a reason. You expect a macbook and you get a brick. You expect an iPod and you get an empty cologne box. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t find the site so trustworthy.

i would go with the dell.
although i am a big Mac fan, i would say get a new computer, jsut because you know it will be reliable.
i actually just bought a powerbook g4 from ebay, and it works, but it does have some issues, liek the DVD drive only works when it wants to, and a smaller harddrive, and physically the computer is definetely used.
but you are the boss.

You really can’t directly compare a new $800 + WINDOWS laptop to a 4 - 5 year old $300 Mac OS laptop.
The Powerbook G4 12" is a cult favorite because of its small size, aluminum chassis and good screen. However all G4 Macs are getting slow in processing power compared to Core2Duo laptops. If your priority is portability, no viruses, for internet and office applications only, no gaming to speak of, and no modern high end graphics or video programs, then the Powerbook G4 12" might be a better choice than a netbook. If you are looking at a new $800+ machine for general purpose, modern applications, some gaming, then compare the Dell against a MacBook Pro machine
