How long does it take a tiger salamander’s eggs to hatch?
June 30th, 2009 | by admin |So my brother and my dad found 4 tiger salamanders under some logs of wood. There are 2 girls and 2 boys. We also don’t know if they have bred. How long does it take a salamander egg to hatch?
I own axolotls and tiger salamanders are their closest relatives, so I’m assuming they’re similar. I’ve successfully raised lots of them from eggs.
Usually 2 to 3 weeks. They will hatch faster if kept warm and take longer if they are cold.
This site is brilliant for advice on axolotls:
http://www.axolotl.org/breeding.htm
Or www.caudata.org might be more useful, as that gives advice on all types of amphibian, including salamanders. There’s also a really helpful forum.
